On Monday, June 10, Tony and I flew from Guilin to Beijing. This was our last domestic flight in China. For the remaining 5 nights, we would make our home at the Crowne Plaza Wafujing. Upon arrival in Beijing, we took the “airport express” train directly from the airport, connected to the subway, switched 2 stops, and then walked a few blocks to our hotel.
We quickly realized how close we were to a lot. Our hotel was situated in the Wafujing district, which is a very modern shopping area, with a big indoor mall (and we would soon discover another similar one just a few blocks away). What was nice about this was we discovered that the gigantic Apple store near our hotel had free WiFi. We went there at least once a day while in Beijing to check our email, update my blog posts, etc.
Our first day was pretty relaxed. We had a light late lunch at the mall and then got a light dinner later at one of the restaurants at our hotel. We had four great days remaining in Beijing and we decided to get a good night’s rest before seeing the historic sights in China’s capital city.
