In 2023, I found time to read 22 books! They were all great. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I bolded 6 books that really had an impact on me and made me think differently about various subjects.
6 were used in the Fearless Journeys community book club:
- The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel
- Extreme Ownership by Jocko Wilink and Leif Babin
- The 5am Club by Robin Sharma
- The Lean Startup by Eric Ries
- The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter
- Inspired Every Day by Kevin Scott
3 other self-growth style books I read included:
- The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
- Breath by James Nestor
- The Illusion of Time by Francois de Neuville
I also read 7 biographies / memoirs:
- Paper Belt on Fire by Michael Gibson
- The Shepherd Who Didn’t Run by Maria Ruiz Scaperlanda
- The Master Plan by Chris Wilson
- App Kid by Michael Sayman
- Stay Interesting by Jonathan Goldsmith
- An American Life by Ronald Reagan
- Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson
I read 1 book about a place I visited this year:
- District 13 of Medellin
I read 3 fictional books by Jack Carr, completing the last 3 in the Terminal List series
- The Devil’s Hand
- In The Blood
- Only The Dead
Plus, one book that stands on its own:
- The Sovereign Individual by James Dale Davidson and Lord Willam Rees-Maug
And, I read one fictional book in Spanish:
- El Principito (The Little Prince) by Antoine De Saint Exupery
What’s cool about this list is that I know or have personally met some of the authors including Kevin Scott (longtime friend), Francois de Neuville (fellow speaker at the Volcano Summit) Michael Gibson (previous podcast guest and spent some time with him this year in Guatemala and Cape Canaveral), and Chris Wilson (interviewed him for my podcast this year at the Miami Book Fair). In the first two weeks of 2024, I will be having Michael Sayman on my podcast for an interview over a video call.
What’s next?
The first two books on the list for the Fearless Journeys book club are: Bet on Yourself by MLS star Chris Mueller and the forthcoming book, Riches in Progress by Body Details co-founder & CEO Claudio Sorrentino. Both have previously been on my podcast and will be joining us for live online sessions to discuss their books with members of the Fearless Journeys community. Want to join us? Start here.
Beyond that… I know I’ll be reading more…
